Unit Overview

Bed Count: 20

Unit Type: Inpatient overflow with mixed acuity (Medical-Surgical and Step-Down)

Patient Population: Short-stay patients (<24 hours LOS), progressive care, telemetry

Turnover: High; quick discharge/admission cycle

EMR System: Cerner

Telemetry: All telemetry patients are hardwired to bedside monitors

Staffing Model

• Day Shift: 1 Charge RN, 4 RNs, 2 CNAs
• Night Shift: 1 Charge RN, 4 RNs, 2 CNAs
• Patient Ratios: 1:5 to 1:6 depending on acuity
  
  

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have:

• BLS and ACLS certifications
• Telemetry competency
• Progressive Care experience
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Recent experience in progressive care or step-down units
  
  

Typical Procedures

• Monitoring and managing telemetry patients
• Care for short-stay and step-down patients
• Rapid assessments and discharge planning
